Do you remember Kingdoms of Amalur? The title that was developed by 38 studios, and went onto score much critical acclaim but also sent its studio into a downward spiral of financial debt? Well if you do, and if you were a fan of the first game, then you may be pleasantly surprised to hear that THQ Nordic today have announced that they have brought the license from the remains of 38 Studios.
Kingdoms of Amalur was always intended to be a new franchise that spanned multiple titles, but obviously that never happened. But under the wings of THQ Nordic, perhaps now we may get to see a new title get developed over the course of the next few years, or even maybe we may even end up with yet another remaster from last gen.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning 2 was in development because the poor sales from the first game caused 38 Studios to fold, the project at the time was called 'Copernicus' and the deal that has been struck, seemingly allows THQ Nordic the ability to maybe resurrect some of these old dead files and re-tinker them for the modern age, possible using them for a future sequel. Once we know more however we will be sure to let you know.
As of right now though it is a good time to be a fan of THQ Nordic with all their recent acquisitions of fan loved titles.
