In a previous article, we brought you a story on Microsoft picking up the popular bank service PayPal for payment use on Xbox Live. Today, Joystiq announced that a Microsoft representative sent a document that revealed the date of the Spring Dashboard Update, which adds PayPal to Live. This date happens to be May 19th, so just around the corner, and along with PayPal, this update will bring you higher-capacity Xbox Game Disc Format (XGD3) media which promises to be used in future game titles releasing later in 2011. The new media format promises additional storage space on a game disc, and provides additional layers of copy protection. Alongside all this, the Avatar Kinect app that we have heard little about will be released on May 27th in a separate download.

Microsoft declined to validate this story, but Joystiq has earned creditability, so more news on this should be issued in the next couple weeks.
