The 2010 VGAs brought us an exciting announcement of the next Elder Scrolls
game, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
. Twitter, forums, etc. all rocketed with rumors of this game using the same engine that powered Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
and Fallout 3
. Others suspected that the game would use id Software's id Tech 5 engine, developed for their next game, Rage
. Today all rumors and questions were smashed as Bethesda Softwork's community manager Nick Breckon confirmed that Skyrim will be using an all new engine.
Oblivion was a beautiful game scenery wise, but lacked visually in the character and cut scene categories. With a new engine, hopefully Skyrim will be visually stunning, and bring an experience that Elder fans have been waiting for since Oblivion.
