NPDs, boring to some while exciting to others, are still important for both companies and game developers. It is a release of how both consoles and games are doing in retails, and can prove some bragging rights. Microsoft can be joyous again, as the Xbox 360 took the #1 spot on consoles for the sixth consecutive month.

Major Nelson highlighted some other interesting NPD information which includes:
--November marks the sixth consecutive month Xbox 360 leads video game consoles in sales, with 1.37 million units sold.

--Xbox 360 is the only console to show double digit year-to-date growth at 42%, making it the fastest-growing console in 2010.

--50% of spending at retail this November (for current generation consoles) was on the Xbox 360 platform.

--During the month of November, four of the top ten console game titles were for Xbox 360 including: Call of Duty: Black Ops, Fable III, Assassinís Creed Brotherhood, and Halo: Reach.

--Call of Duty: Black Ops for Xbox 360 was the number one selling console game in November.

Posting frency, hell yeah!

...no, really, I should quit writting so much.

Back to the topic, I saw this @ Major Nelson and couldn't care less. Let me ask you a question (to you few fellas reading this). Do numbers count so much to us, the customers ? This stuff sure matters to people whom pockets are being stuffed with our astro-bucks (or whatever your planet's currency is) but users !?

I'm tired of reading myself saying so, but IMHO the only thing users (should) care is about the games on their system, so the great news should be like Hey, there is a brand new game, not a sequel or look! fresh concepts like mirror's edge or exclusives that made the user feel like they choosed the right system to play with.

That's of course my opinion but in the end that's what I use my xbox for; gaming so games do actually concern me.
