An error on the part of Xbox Live's Major Nelson (Larry Hyrb) caused the much-hyped Halo: Reach to appear to be #2 on Xbox Live Most Played list for the week of September 13th.

Major Nelson updated his blog on Thursday night, explaining that a problem with a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet caused the latest Bungie game to fall behind. After double checking the numbers, he confirmed that Reach was indeed the #1 game of the week.

Interestingly, though not particularly surprisingly, Major Nelson noted that during the week Reach was played on Live by nearly 4x more unique users than Halo 3, which held onto the #3 spot behind the #2 most played game, Modern Warfare 2

On a side note, since I'm new to the Xbox Resource crew, let me introduce myself. My name's Eric, I'm 21, and I love gaming. Hit me up on Twitter or Xbox Live if you feel like having some fun. I'm styx2007 on both.
Thanks guys!

I was a little confused at first, but written on his blog (www.majornelson.com), Major Nelson clearly states that Reach was #1.

to clear this up basically halo reach had the most playtime on xbox live than any other game BUT MW2 had the most amount of unique user's to play the game eg. if 2 million people played MW2 for even 10 seconds and 1 million people played reach for 10 hours MW2 would win on the amount of individuals who played the game but halo would win on the time played.
