What a week. E3 has crept up on us, injected gamers worldwide with a flurry of excitement and suspense and gone again. So while you're sat there, twiddling your thumbs awaiting the mouth watering Project Natal and whatnot, why not spend a little time earning bragging rights by boosting your Gamerscore with these credit crunch busting titles?
Sports games are reknown for their generally easy achievements. NBA 2K6, one of the early 360 games, is no exception. When playing under the default settings, some of the achievements seem challenging and you find yourself getting frustrated when the opposition continuously make steals and halt your progress, even on the easiest setting. However, all you need to do is access the game settings and adjust the sliders to your advantage, for example by changing the CPU settings so they don't intercept passes or steal the ball. Once you have done this, lengthen the time limit for each quarter and take your time breezing through that 1000G. Simple.
Time Taken - 1 hour
Price - No more than £5.00
[/colonel]CSI- Hard Evidence
All that is required for this game is for you to use your hi-tec equipment to solve all of 5 fairly short cases and voila, 1000G is yours. If you get stuck at any point, you can simply ease your way through the case by accessing the obvious hints in the start menu during the mission. There really is no way you could fail to reach 100% completion of this title, unless you get bored of the rigid gameplay, which is aimed mainly at die hard fans of the series.
Time Taken - 4 hours
Price - £10.00
It is common knowledge amongst 'Achievement Whores' worldwide that all this game requires for the full 1000G is the execution of a series of combos which can be achieved at the start of the first mission. This arguably makes Avatar the easiest game around for quick achievement gaining. 10 minutes should be all you'll need for a laughable 1000G.
Time Taken - 5 minutes
Price - Can be around £25.00, so rent this one, or borrow from a generous friend...
[/colonel]WWE Legends of Wrestlemania
Even the most hardcore Wrestling fans would concede that the WWE SVR Series was beginning to become a little boring. Each year a pretty limited roster of wrestlers would be released, with identical moves as previous games along with pretty much the same game modes. Achievements would be averagely easy, though time consuming. Legends of Wrestlemania however, seems to break the mould and redefine the wrestling genre with original controls, new wrestlers and seriously easy achievements. The full 1000 points on this title can be gained in an afternoon, and I had a lot of fun earning most of them. Create a wrestler, play through the story modes and you've already added a meaty 600-700 points. However, my one and only qualm with this game was the requirement to play over 35 matches in a row, without a break. Even for 100 points, this achievement pushed me as far as praying for the usually dreaded Red Ring Of Death, just to escape the monotony. Obviously, you can pause the game, but if you suffer from photosensitive seizures after prolonged TV exposure, maybe Avatar would be a safer bet...
Time Taken - 6-7 hours
Price - £15-£20
It's not often you come across a game which requires nothing more than completion of the main story on easy mode for a whole 1000 points. King Kong is simply a run of the mill movie-based game which is pleasing to the eye with decent gameplay and easy achievements. Expect no longer than 5-8 hours of gameplay for another full completion on your card.
Time Taken - 6 hours
Price - £5-£10
So there we have it, 5 games which are guaranteed to substantially improve your Gamerscore, no matter what level of a gamer you may be. Feel free to PM me should you require any help with these games or achievements in general, or just add me on Xbox Live.
