Are all of those promotional shots of families enjoying Kinect a lie? It could be a possibility. If recent technical specifications for Kinect are accurate, the motion-sensing peripheral will only truly support two players at once.

According to a listing from UK online retailer Play.com (play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/10... ... oduct.html), Microsoft’s device can track “2 active players” simultaneously, even though it can apparently recognize up to six people in the camera’s view.

If these specs reflect the final product, it would put Kinect at a HUGE disadvantage when compared to Sony’s Move and Nintendo’s Wii, both of which support four players at once. Some multiplatform titles, like Majesco’s Zumba Fitness, add credence to the apparent player discrepancy. According to a press release, that title supports “up to four players on Wii and PlayStation Move, and up to two players on Kinect for Xbox 360.”

If this ends being true, those are sad news but, as far as I can recall KINECT videos showed 2 gamers playing and the rest of the family behind them at the sofa... they swapped players but I did never get to see 4 people playing kinect at the same time so this sound like the usual stuff to drag attention over the internet (not xbox resource but the one who wrote this stuff in first place)

Still, whoever comparing zumba gameplay between your using your whole body as command input and just waving a stick is nuts. Or will sony-nintendo users tie one controller to each leg and arm ?

Based on my personal experience I see no drama in it being just for 2, except for Rock band-like games, but still if you are a real freak of party game with lots of people you can buy 2 kinects if it could be possible to conect 2 to the same xbox. After all, getting (a guitar + drumset + mic + extra guitar to play bass) = any cheap back when rock band came out back at it's day.

Well tha's just IMHO.

Cheers.
