Microsoft have just unvield the long rumoured xbox 360 slim console and with it they have just announced it will cost exactly the same price as the current standard 360.

The new console will feature a 250gb Hard drive,
Built in WI.FI
And it will be ready and compatible to use with Kinect.

The console is shipping right now to all game retailers and e-tailers and will be ready for purchase sometime in the middle of the week.

So will you be picking one up?

Looks ugly to me and I have a propperly working Elite so I don't see the point about getting one.

Kinect-ready ? This may mislead people to think already existing consoles won't be compatible from start. I think they will update the OS making ALL xboxes out there kinect-ready.

Those marketing statements really disturb me :D

PS: didn't know the word e-tailer existed, cool!

I think the design looks really good, its smaller, sleaker, way shiny lol.
I to have a perfectly good working Elite, well it has been sent in twice for repair, but its been very good to me besides that. The fact of the matter is at somepoint I will run out of space on my 120Gig HD, so the next step will be to go to something bigger. The bigger HDD is great, built in WiFi and up to 5(!) USB Ports, THATS AWESOME!

What they mean by Kinect Ready I think is that with an Xbox Original, if your using Kinect, you will need a seprate power source and have to plug it into the wall. Where as if you have a newer Xbox 360 you just need to plug it right in and no additional power source.
I do see though where it can be misleading.

Really though I think its great seeing MS push forward, making things new and intresting, be it new hardware, or software, new console design, bigger and better games etc. They are planning on keeping this console age around for a good number of years still and giving us more and more options keeps things fresh and fun. They arnt forcing us to buy a new system.
Hmm when you go on about the slim proving there n ot trying to shove a new system onto us im not so sure. I think give it next E3 we could start hearing rumours of the next batch of consoles.

If history is to repeat itself this could be the case both the PS1 and PS2 slim launched a year and a half before there next models were announced with PS3 being the only one to go slim way before its time because of needing more sales.

The Xbox slim as i have said before is probably microsofts last attempt to get strong sales again before the next incarnation of consoles are announced. Theres only so long a developer will keep supporting systems as each developer wants to get deeper and bigger and invest as many resources into graphical power as possible.

If consoles cant hack it then the PC may reign once again because devs will be able to constantly upgrade graphics to keep up with how fast the pc will develop.

I know companys are looking to keep the Xbox 360/PS3 around for a good 5 years or so maybe more.
I myself really hope this will be what happens. As much as I love new tech, new toys and new games, I really think the console age we are in now is way above what the previous consoles could even think of doing. I hope they take what they announced today at E3 and run with it for longer then just a year or so.

I could be way wrong, They could already be working on new systems. I'm not saying i would be against a new system or anything like that. I'm just saying the point in time we are at now, I am very happy with what we have. I'm going on my 4th year as a Xbox 360 Live Member and I'm not tired of it by any means. They keep reinventing what they started with and have gone a long way to make things new and intresting.

DJ TapouT I'm not sure about 360 coming close to it's end due to it's slim version appearing as advent signal.

It took a lot of thech research to come up with kinect so the current gaming system has still to milk its new cow for at least 2 years if not more.

Kniect also implies current work (soft developers) on new titles to get it to its full potential so this factor may also slow down a bit the works of the new system. Well, that's just the way I see it.
