Square Enix announced today that Dungeon Siege 3 is under development by the guys at Obsidian Entertainment, with some direction from Chris Taylor, Dungeon Siege's creator, and his studio, Gas Powered Games. This is the first Dungeon Siege game to come to consoles after a many years of great RPG games on the PC.
Chris Taylor told Games Radar, “It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Obsidian. They are a very talented developer who really knows what it takes to build a deep and engaging RPG experience, and I can’t think of a better group to continue the Dungeon Siege series.
According to the press release, the action RPG will include co-op, a deep story, customizable character classes, companions, and weighty decisions.
If you are worried about the change of developers, don't be! The guys behind Obsidian seem like a natural fit after doing such games like KotOR II, Neverwinter Nights II, and Alpha Protocol. With help from Taylor's studio, Gas Powered Games, Dungeon Siege 3 should be a huge excitement.
Hopefully we will see more news of this coming out of E3, but if we do not, keep a watchful eye on Dungeon Siege 3 which is coming to the 360 (****Note that it is also coming out for the PS3 and PC). Happy gaming! :)
