[/colonel] As many of you probably know from X2I's E3 roundup thread, Left 4 Dead 2 is coming out for the PC and 360. More specifically, it's scheduled for this year, November 17th, 2009. Now, being the Left 4 Dead freak that I am, I'm going to go a bit more in depth on this subject.
First, I'd like to let everyone know that Valve plans on keeping updates coming for the original Left 4 Dead, so two will not have everyone shift over. However, they have thought about including the original 4 campaigns from Left 4 Dead in Left 4 Dead 2. Mostly so people won't have to switch discs if they feel they want to play one of the other campaigns with their friends.
Now for some of the new stuff that will be in the game. While they will be keeping the original special infected, they are also going to add more into it.. How many are being added we don't know yet. There is a Charger which seems to be a half transformed tank, with one large arm. this is mainly to keep survivors from grouping in corners and spamming melee. He also pile drives a survivor into the ground repeatably until someone else rescues them. There is also a roaming witch, which will walk rather than sit down sobbing. The roaming witch is for the daytime maps (more on that further down.) in the night time ones, she will still be sitting around crying. (So I've heard so far.)
Melee weapons are being introduced into the game. The ones that are known are; A frying pan, Baseball bat, chainsaw, and an axe. If there will be more than that is yet to be said, but I wouldn't think so. The guns you use are also different form the first game. There is a new kind of ammo; incendiary ammo, which fills a clip of your gun and sets zombies on fire when they're shot. You can't save this ammo, once you grab it, you have to use it. Just watch out for setting a charger or hunter on fire. To counter this, there are zombies which are in some contamination suit, they cannot be set on fire.
The campaigns are to be more linked together, rather than tossing you into random maps and saying you're here now. There are a total of 5 new campaigns being put in this game. Some of these maps take place in the daytime, which seems strange for the game at first, but after viewing some videos of game play looks rather promising. The zombies react a bit different in the day than they do in the night. Survival mode, and versus are returning, with a new mode that Valve has yet to detail.
So far, we have a trailer, and some game play footage. While at first I was thinking that a whole new game was a bit much, Valve has shown me that this isn't just little perks, this is an actual new game. New survivors; Nick, Ellis, Rochelle and Coach. New infected. New weapons. New campaigns. It's surprising that Valve was able to work this fast and produce such quality in a short time while still working on DLC for L4D.
The AI director is also revamped, with a quote:
The director will also have spatial control over parts of some levels. Yes, it can and will change the layout of the map to challenge you. The example in The Parish campaign is the cemetery; if you're familiar with New Orleans, you know that they don't bury their dead because the water table is so high; instead, cemeteries are full of crypts. Now the director can alter the layout of the cemetery based on how well you're doing. If you're doing poorly and need help, the route through the cemetery might be as simple as a straight line. If you're doing well, the cemetery is more like a maze and can lead to dead ends. The idea is you can't know the pattern beforehand every time you play.
I will be updating this topic as I learn more, you can count on it.

Takes place about a week later from the first game. Oh, and zombies won't just fall over if you shoot off an arm. New sniper also looks like it would be better. I might use that xD There will be more than the frying pan/axe/chainsaw/baseball bat.
Health packs might not always (ever?) be in saferooms for versus mode. (Not entirely sure about campaign.)
People on the PC who are making maps with the SDK will be able tp play them on either Left 4 Dead 1 or 2.
More movies for the campaigns. He says Two of the campaigns will have their own movies. then goes on to say Each campaign. So, I assume he means each campaign that has the movie. But, not entirely sure on that.

video of gameplay.

Some more gameplay along with a few other things.
A frame by frame Basically, the trailer with someone giving commentary and pointing things out.
Things that I've noticed from watching the videos: Hunter sounds different. When picking a melee weapon, you keep your main weapon, but when you want to use it, you drop the melee weapon.
The haz mat suited infected are referred to as the uncommon common. The guy in the video goes on to say that each uncommon common has a little perk. So I expect to see more uncommon common.
Smoker, like the hunter, sounds different. I wouldn't be surprised if they updated the looks a while from now.
After closer listening, it appears all of the old special infected have new sound packs.

Interview about it, which I forgot to mention in the first post. (This is the thing that slipped my mind while I was typing. )

A bunch of stuff, check it out.
Some lost E3 footage, if you skip to 1:50, you'll see what a charger looks like coming at you in first person.
Some more footage of L4D2 game play, all new.
NOTE: You have to hit stop and then play again to make the videos actually work.

It's in German, it has some images and an (OLD) video. Although the images at the bottom show how the new AI director can change the level.

10 days till comic con, then we'll get some more info and most likely more gameplay footage. I'm expecting something semi-big to get people interested after the whole boycott
Old interview, but something I've missed.

New info, some cool stuff. Although everyone expected some sort of long range special infected that shoot shit at you, still good to hear. (gave this it's own topic, since it's not just a little new thing, it's loads of stuff.)

AK47 confirmed. Although we've seen it in the posters, now it is 100% confirmed and in the game.

Today is the big day, start of comic con. Let's see what new info we have, shall we?
full image of Spitter.
New videos.(NOTE: THERE ARE 3 VIDEOS THERE.)
First video: Shows AK47 in action, Boat paddle of some sort. Fire seems to be revamped and looks better. New sound for the hunter in action. Skin of hunter not yet changed. Coach has a different shirt on, which makes me think clothes are different for each campaign. Pipebomb looks a lot different in-hand.
Second video: New sniper rifle in action. Up close look at the charger.
Third video: Axe gameplay. It seems like you drop your melee weapon when pulled by a smoker.
My own speculation: It seems that the boomer explodes FIRE... It might be when he's on fire, but both instances when he blew up, fire spread right away. So perhaps if you set the boomer on fire, he'll send out fire back. Most likely balancing out the incendiary ammo.
We see The Spitter's spit, and how strong it is. It tears apart two of the survivors, and a charger gets a third.
Couple of interviews: g4tv.com/videos/40149/Left-4-D... gamepro.com/video/news/133508/...
The charger CANNOT BE HIT AWAY WHEN HE HAS ANOTHER TEAMMATE GRABBED. As seen in the second video.

Riot Zombie screenshots:

The Jockey... A new special infected that hops on the back of a survivor and damages them. Doesn't sound too bad, right? Oh, did I forget to mention that it also gets to control the survivor? Yeah, could really break the game if it isn't tweaked just right. Here's putting faith into VALVe... No screenshots or gameplay of it yet, but destructoid says it's true. Showing it off at PAX, so expect more information about it here.

Pause at 0:03 and see Coach killed Jockey. Meaning, it's confirmed. Can't really see him, sadly. Also note that the melee weapon (Or, the axe.) replaces your PISTOL until dropped and is holstered on your back. Coach is also carrying a CROWBAR, meaning, crowbar confirmed.
Eurogamer is giving more info on L4D2. Clown infected are uncommon common, the title of the newest campaign is Dark Carnival with the caption You must be this tall... TO DIE! As seen
There is another melee weapon, the electric guitar.
You start out on a highway, and have to go through a 2 story motel complex to get to the actual carnival part. After taking a look at the screenshots and reading about it, I think this might be my new favorite so far, and maybe my favorite all together.
